Real Madrid's Paul Pogba move 'put on hold'

Real Madrid place their summer transfer plans on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak, according to a report.

Real Madrid have reportedly placed their summer transfer plans on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Los Blancos were expected to be active in the market ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, with Manchester United's Paul Pogba still being strongly linked.

However, according to ESPN, the impact of the worldwide pandemic has forced Zinedine Zidane's side to put their plans on hold due to the uncertainty surrounding whether the current season will be completed.

The report claims that central midfield remains a priority area for Madrid, and Pogba has again been linked with a potential switch to the Spanish giants.

Club president Florentino Perez still allegedly believes that the France international is too expensive, though, with the Red Devils thought to have placed a €100m (£90.6m) valuation on his shoulders.

Pogba, who has not turned out for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in 2020 due to an ankle injury, will see his current deal at Old Trafford expire in June 2021.

The 20-time English champions have the option to extend the 2018 World Cup winner's contract for a further 12 months, though, and are expected to take up the option to protect his value.
