Preview: Rangers vs. Queen of the South

Sports Mole looks ahead to Rangers's home game against Queen of the South in the Scottish Championship.

Rangers will be eager to get back to winning ways in the Scottish Championship on Tuesday when they welcome Queen of the South to Ibrox Stadium.

Kenny McDowall's side have drawn their last two games in the league, leaving them 23 points behind leaders Hearts in the table.

However, with two matches in hand on the teams above them, they will go level on points with second-placed Hibernian if they pick up a victory over Queen of the South.

A big crowd is expected at Ibrox for the game following Dave King's successful takeover of the club. The South Africa-based businessman has injected a renewed sense of optimism among supporters, and huge numbers are understood to be heading to the match.

Meanwhile, Queens make the trip to Glasgow in need of a win themselves after taking just one point from their last two encounters in the league.

James Fowler's team are in danger of seeing their season fizzle out, but three points against Rangers would push them to within three points of their hosts.

The sides have played each other twice already during the current campaign, with each recording a win. Rangers earned a 4-2 victory on home turf back in August, while Queen of the South gained revenge with a 2-0 triumph at Palmerston Park three months ago.

Seb Faure could be back in contention for the hosts after missing Saturday's 0-0 draw with Cowdenbeath with a thigh problem. Steven Smith, Bilel Mohsni and Andy Murdoch may also be recalled. The visitors have no fresh injury concerns.
