Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.

The 23-year-old has produced a number of memorable moments during his two-and-a-half-year spell at Stamford Bridge, notably scoring the winning goal in the 2020-21 Champions League final against the Citizens.

However, finding consistency in front of goal has proven challenging at times for the Germany international, recording 25 goals and 14 assists in 105 appearances across all competitions.

Indeed, Havertz has started 11 of his 14 games so far this season, but he has only found the back of the net twice, scoring in Premier League home wins against West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After disappointing displays against Aston Villa and Brentford, Havertz was an unused substitute in Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Saturday.

Nevertheless, journalist Simon Phillips claims that the former Bayer Leverkusen man has attracted interest from reigning Premier League champions Man City.

It seems unlikely that Chelsea would consider selling Havertz, who is under contract in West London until June 2025, to a Premier League rival.

However, with the Blues believed to be eyeing a new centre-forward next summer, Havertz's game time could become limited at Stamford Bridge.

The likes of Napoli's Victor Osimhen, AC Milan's Rafael Leao and Man United's Cristiano Ronaldo have all been linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks, while the future of Inter Milan loanee Romelu Lukaku remains uncertain.

Havertz is already having to cope with rotation from new head coach Graham Potter, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling and Armando Broja also competing for a place in attack.

Should Havertz seek pastures new to gain regular first-team football, a switch to Man City may not see his minutes increase, as Pep Guardiola already has a wealth of attacking options at his disposal.

However, the Spaniard is always looking for ways to improve his squad and he could view Havertz as a valuable addition considering his versatility in the final third.

Guardiola's new number nine, Erling Braut Haaland, is enjoying an electric start to life at the Etihad Stadium since joining from Borussia Dortmund, scoring 22 goals in just 15 appearances.

January recruit Julian Alvarez has had to play second fiddle behind Haaland so far this season, but the Argentine is rated highly by the Citizens and he has shown glimpses of his talent during his 14 outings for the club.

Meanwhile, Man City have also been credited with an interest in Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is reportedly reluctant to renew his contract with the Serie A club.
