Preview: Mallorca vs. Getafe - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's La Liga clash between Mallorca and Getafe, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Mallorca will be bidding to make it back-to-back wins in La Liga when they continue their campaign at home to Getafe on Sunday evening.

Javier Aguirre's side will enter the contest off the back of a 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo, while Getafe, who are in the relegation mix at this stage of the season, held Barcelona to a goalless draw last time out.

Mallorca are chasing their first top-half finish in La Liga since claiming eighth in 2011-12, with a total of 37 points from 29 matches leaving them in 11th spot in the table.

The Pirates are only one point behind ninth-placed Girona and just three from Rayo Vallecano in eighth, while they are 10 points clear of the bottom three, which is a healthy gap at this stage of the campaign.

Aguirre's side had actually been on a six-game winless run in the league before they recorded a 1-0 victory over Celta last time out, with Amath Ndiaye scoring the only goal of the match in the 21st minute.

Mallorca have picked up 22 points from their 14 home league games this season, and they will be welcoming a Getafe outfit with one of the poorer away records in the division, claiming only 11 points this term.

Getafe have dominated the recent La Liga meetings between these two teams, though, winning six of their last seven encounters, remaining unbeaten in the process, with Mallorca's last top-flight win over the capital outfit coming back in April 2012.

The visitors will enter this match off the back of a morale-boosting result against Barcelona, holding the runaway league leaders to a goalless draw, but they are still in a difficult position in the table.

Indeed, a total of 31 points from 29 matches has left Getafe in 15th, only four points clear of the relegation zone, so a couple of poor results could see them pulled into the bottom three.

The Deep Blue Ones have only played outside of Spain's top flight for one season since 2004, so it would be a surprise to see them drop down into the Segunda Division for next term.

Getafe are not winning too many games at the moment, but they are also not losing many, with the 2-0 defeat at Real Sociedad on April 8 their only loss in the league since the end of February.

Quique Sanchez Flores's side have two huge games at the end of the month against fellow strugglers Almeria and Espanyol, which are potentially season-defining fixtures.

Team News

Mallorca will be boosted by the returns of Jaume Costa and Copete, with the pair available after serving suspensions in the win over Celta last time out.

However, Giovanni Gonzalez, Matija Nastasic, Dani Rodriguez and Ludwig Augustinsson will be unavailable for selection on Sunday due to injury problems.

Aguirre will be tempted to stick with the same XI that started the team's last game, but it would not be a surprise to see both Costa and Copete come back into the defensive five.

As for Getafe, Mauro Arambarri and Jaime Mata are again set to miss out due to muscular problems, but the away side have no fresh concerns ahead of this match.

Head coach Flores does have plenty of options for change in the midfield and forward areas, with Portu and Carles Alena likely to be in his thinking when it comes to alterations.

However, Munir El Haddadi is again expected to operate in a midfield role, with Borja Mayoral and Enes Unal playing further forward for the visiting team on Sunday.

Mallorca possible starting lineup:
Rajkovic; Sanchez, Valjent, Raillo, Copete, Costa; Morlanes, Ruiz de Galarreta, Kang-in; Muriqi, Ndiaye

Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Suarez, Dakonam, Duarte, Alderete, Iglesias; Maksimovic, Milla, El Haddadi; Mayoral, Unal

We say: Mallorca 0-0 Getafe

Both teams could play back fives in this match, which is likely to make it a very tight affair. Getafe would accept a point if it were offered ahead of kickoff, and we are backing the visitors to secure a share of the spoils in a goalless draw on Sunday evening.
