An Emile Sinclair hat-trick fires Peterborough United to their first league victory of the season at Hull City.

The Championship's bottom club Peterborough United pulled off a shock victory at Hull City this afternoon with an Emile Sinclair hat-trick helping them to a 3-1 win.

The hosts could have broken the deadlock in the seventh minute when Robert Koren's cross found James Chester in the box, but defender's header cleared the crossbar.

Peterborough took a surprise lead on 24 minutes when a composed Sinclair slid the ball past Robert Olejnik in the Hull goal following a catastrophic error by Stephen Quinn.

Bottom club Posh doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark, and Sinclair was the thorn in Hull's side once again.

The striker hit the back of the net with low stroke after being lined up by George Boyd to give Darren Ferguson's side a 2-0 advantage at the break.

Sinclair came close to completing a hat-trick in the second period, forcing a fine save from Ben Amos just before the hour mark.

Hull pulled a goal back almost immediately after when Jay Simpson found the top corner after being lined up by Ahmed Elmohamady.

Posh restored their two-goal cushion on 72 minutes when Sinclair completed his hat-trick with a stunning solo effort following an error by Sone Aluko.

The result gives Ferguson's side their first three points of the season, but isn't enough to lift them from the Championship basement.
