Preview: Hull City vs. Bournemouth - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Hull City and Bournemouth, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Bournemouth make the trip to face Hull City at the KCOM Stadium looking to extend their unbeaten record in the Championship to five matches.

Despite a big victory on the opening day of the season, the division newcomers have since suffered three successive defeats without scoring a goal.

After a strong start in the Championship, Scott Parker was left stunned as Bournemouth shipped six goals against Norwich City in the EFL Cup second round.

Despite making several changes to his starting lineup, a Cherries side which Parker would have felt good enough to gain a result at Carrow Road wilted during the second half.

Parker will attempt to use the manner of the setback as motivation going forward, but it was clear that some players are off the pace as far as being in contention for a league spot is concerned.

With Arnaut Danjuma having departed for Villarreal, there is an increasing reliance on the likes of David Brooks and Dominic Solanke in the final third.

When taking into account that a two-goal lead was conceded against Blackpool last weekend, Bournemouth have now let in eight strikes without reply.

Hull are another team who have found scoring goals hard to come by of late, their last effort in the league coming during the closing stages of their 4-1 victory at Preston North End on August 7.

All things considered, defeats against Queens Park Rangers and Fulham came as little surprise, but the 1-0 reverse at home to Derby County hurt the Tigers.

Faced with another of the division promotion contenders, Grant McCann has a tough task on his hands with his side also yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

Nevertheless, there were positives to take from the performance at Craven Cottage, particularly with many of the club's attacking contingent on the sidelines.

Team News

While Hull remain without George Honeyman and George Moncur, McCann should be able to call upon Ryan Longman.

The 20-year-old, on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, could take the place of Randell Williams on the right-hand side of midfield.

Despite remaining as an unused substitute last time out, Tom Huddlestone will surely come into contention for his first start of the campaign.

Although Steve Cook came through 90 minutes against Norwich in the EFL Cup, Parker may decide to give the centre-back more time to regain full fitness.

Emiliano Marcondes should return to the midfield with Junior Stanislas having been ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Hull City possible starting lineup:
Ingram; Coyle, Bernard, Greaves, Elder; Smith, Smallwood; Longman, Docherty, Lewis-Potter; Magennis

Bournemouth possible starting lineup:
Travers; Mepham, Rossi, Kelly, Zemura; Marcondes, Kilkenny, Billing; Brooks, Solanke, Anthony

We say: Hull City 1-3 Bournemouth

Hull will sense that they have a window of opportunity on Saturday after Bournemouth's embarrassment earlier this week. That said, the recall of several players should make the difference and we expect the Cherries to run out convincing victors.
