Cesc Fabregas: 'Lionel Messi plans to end career at Barcelona'

Former Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas expects Lionel Messi to remain at Camp Nou for the rest of his career, despite recent links to Inter Milan.

Cesc Fabregas has said that he is "fully confident" former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi will see out his career at Camp Nou.

Messi has spent 16 seasons in Barca's first team, accruing an incredible 34 trophies during that time.

However, a recent breakdown in relations between the Argentina international and the La Liga giants has led to speculation that he is open to a move away, with Inter Milan believed to be monitoring the situation.

Fabregas cannot envisage Messi playing for another team, though, telling Spanish radio station Cadena Cope: "I speak with Messi and his idea has always been to end his career at Barcelona.

"Many things can happen at a club but I am fully confident that his career will end at Barca."

Fabregas, who also came through Barca's famed La Masia academy, is now plying his trade for Ligue 1 side Monaco.
