Unai Emery 'proud' to succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal

New Arsenal manager Unai Emery thanks his predecessor Arsene Wenger for his accomplishments during the last 22 years.

Arsenal's newly-appointed manager Unai Emery has said that he is "proud" to succeed Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking to the media for the first time as Gunners boss, the Spaniard thanked his predecessor for his achievements at the club during the last 22 years.

"Thank you Arsene Wenger. He has reverence from all coaches in the world and I learned with him all the things in football," Emery told reporters.

"This is a big project and I am proud to be here and to work after [Wenger]."

During the press conference, Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis confirmed that Emery will be backed with transfer funds this summer.
