GB's Rebecca Gallantree, Alicia Blagg miss out on Dubai medal

GB 3m synchro duo Rebecca Gallantree and Alicia Blagg miss out on a podium spot in Beijing after a poor final dive.

An underwhelming final dive has cost Britain's Rebecca Gallantree and Alicia Blagg a podium spot in the women's 3m synchro at the World Diving Series in Dubai.

The pair, who took bronze at last week's season opener in Beijing, had been on course to repeat the feat until the final round, where their forward 3-1/2 somersault pike earned them just 64.17 points and saw them tumble down the leaderboard to fifth.

Chinese duo Wu Minxia and Shi Tingmao claimed yet another gold after amassing a total of 338.10 across the five dives, almost 23 points more than their nearest competitors.

Silver went to Canada's Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware, while Paola Espinosa and Dolores Hernandez of Mexico edged out Australia for bronze.

Results in full:

1. Wu Minxia, Shi Tingmao (CHN) - 338.10
2. Jennifer Abel, Pamela Ware (CAN) - 315.51
3. Paola Espinosa, Dolores Hernandez (MEX) - 303.90
4. Maddison Keeney, Annabelle Smith (AUS) - 301.50
5. Rebecca Gallantree, Alicia Blagg (GBR) - 300.87
6. Anastasiia Nedobiga, Viktoriya Kesar (UKR) - 294.39
