Great Britain keep Davis Cup hopes alive

Andy Murray and Jamie Murray combine to earn Great Britain a four-set victory in the third rubber of their Davis Cup semi-final with Argentina.

Great Britain have stayed alive in their Davis Cup semi-final with Argentina after Andy Murray and Jamie Murray won the doubles rubber on Saturday afternoon.

Leon Smith's team went into the third match of the tie facing a 2-0 deficit after both Andy Murray and Kyle Edmund lost on Friday, but the four-set victory for the siblings over Juan Martin del Potro and Leonardo Mayer has ensured that the contest goes into a final day.

The home pairing needed just 26 minutes to move into a one-set lead but a poor service game from Andy Murray allowed Argentina back into it at the start of the second and they soon levelled the match.

However, the Murray brothers recovered to break twice in the third to move closer to victory and it was plain sailing in the fourth as they avoided a break point on their serve to run out 6-1 3-6 6-4 6-4 winners.

On Sunday, Murray is scheduled to face Guido Pella and if he can come through that contest with a win, either Edmund or Dan Evans will play Del Potro for a place in the final.
