Tom Youngs: 'England did not do simple things against Fiji'

Tom Youngs suggests that England failed to do the simple things during their 35-11 win over Fiji in the opening game of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

England hooker Tom Youngs has claimed that some of his teammates will be disappointed with their performances in their opening Rugby World Cup Pool A 35-11 victory over Fiji.

The 2003 winners needed a late Billy Vunipola try to seal a bonus-point win over the Pacific island nation after Mike Brown crossed over twice for Stuart Lancaster's men.

However, Youngs has suggested that England allowed themselves to be dragged into a style of play that favoured Fiji.

He told BBC Sport: "I think we'll take the outcome but we're disappointed with some of the performances.

"We didn't do the simple things and got dragged into a different style of play. Our fitness showed late on and we got ourselves back into the game.

"We were aware of the Fijian talent and flair and didn't want to let them get too close. We knew our fitness would tell."

England now face Wales and Australia over the next fortnight before rounding off the pool phase against minnows Uruguay.
