Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner praises Stoke City for their performance in the 2-0 win over the Terriers on Saturday.

Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner has praised Stoke City for their performance in the 2-0 win over the Terriers on Saturday, adding that his side have to be "stronger".

Wagner's charges suffered their third successive Premier League defeat at the hands of the Potters, who moved out of the Premier League relegation zone with the victory.

Midfielder Joe Allen and striker Mame Biram Diouf each scored a goal in the second half as new Stoke boss Paul Lambert began his reign at the bet365 Stadium in solid fashion.

"It was difficult. For me it was because Stoke and their supporters were really on it," Wagner told BBC Sport. "They were really aggressive and limited us and I felt they deserved it. They limited our offensive game.

"It shouldn't be a surprise that Stoke is a top quality side even if they are not in the best position in the table. We fought and tried everything but were limited offensively football wise.

"We have to be stronger in ball possession too. We changed our idea of playing football and wanted to go more direct which worked for a big part of the game but not long enough. It wasn't a game for technical players today. It was a fighting game with a lot of tackles.

Huddersfield have not won in the top flight since defeating Watford 4-1 at Vicarage Road in December.
