Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly meet with Argentine outfit Estudiantes this week in a bid to thrash out a deal for highly-rated defender Juan Foyth.

Last month, it was claimed that Spurs were interested in signing the 19-year-old, who is believed to have a £5m release clause inserted into his current deal with Estudiantes.

Roma have also been linked with a move for the teenager, but according to the London Evening Standard, Spurs are at the head of the queue, and the Premier League club will hold talks with officials from Estudiantes before the end of the week.

At the weekend, Foyth, who has made just seven first-team appearances for his Argentine club, admitted that he would find it difficult to turn down the chance to play European football.

Former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron is the president of Estudiantes, and it is understood that the Argentine will be at the forefront of the negotiations.
