Jamie Redknapp insists that Tottenham Hotspur have to do all they can to keep hold of Christian Eriksen.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp has urged the club to do all they can to keep Christian Eriksen.

The Denmark international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer with his contract due to expire at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Manchester United had been linked with a swoop before the English transfer window closed last week, but Eriksen could still leave Mauricio Pochettino's side for another European club before the end of the month.

Redknapp has claimed that Eriksen's introduction in Saturday's Premier League clash against Aston Villa changed the match, and the pundit has insisted that Tottenham have to keep hold of the playmaker.

"Personally, until Eriksen came onto the field, I didn't see Spurs winning that game," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "Mauricio said that he felt his side were better in the second half, but I'm not so sure.

"When he came onto the pitch, the tempo changed, the pace of the passing changed, you could see every time a Spurs player got the ball, the first player they looked for was him. He changed the whole tempo of the game.

"I think it was more to do with him than anything else... he's the difference in that team, Eriksen, and they need to find a way to keep him. If he wants a bit more money than most players, that's what great players deserve."

United midfielder Paul Scholes recently claimed that the Red Devils should have signed Eriksen during the summer transfer window.
