Tottenham Hotspur reportedly plan to reopen contract talks with Antonio Conte - whose current deal is due to expire at the end of the season - on Monday

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to reopen talks with manager Antonio Conte over a new contract on Monday.

The 53-year-old's current deal expires at the end of the season, and he has been persistently linked with a move back to Juventus once his Tottenham contract runs out.

Conte has shot down the "disrespectful" links to his former club, who are in disarray after chairman Andrea Agnelli and the entire board announced their resignation amid an investigation into alleged false accounting and Financial Fair Play breaches.

Nevertheless, Conte's future remains the subject of much speculation, but Tottenham are determined to agree a new contract with the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss.

The Lilywhites were expected to open talks with Conte over a new contract during the World Cup break, and The Athletic states that conversations will resume from today.

The report states that Conte and Tottenham had opened negotiations prior to the World Cup, but they could not resume as scheduled last week due to Fabio Paratici's busy schedule.

Tottenham are said to be confident about their chances of tying the Italian down to a new contract in North London, and they will now discuss some key details in the hope of thrashing out an agreement.

Conte and Tottenham are expected to sit down and discuss plans for the January transfer window this week, as the Italian is determined to make improvements to his squad during the winter market.

Before committing his future to Tottenham, Conte apparently wants to ensure that the club shares his vision and "ambition" for the next few years as the Lilywhites aim to end their lengthy trophy drought.

In addition to transfer plans, Conte is also understood to be negotiating his contract length and salary during these December talks, although it is unclear if he will be offered any sort of pay rise.

Conte has overseen a marked improvement in fortunes since taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo in 2021, and he led Tottenham back into the Champions League with a fourth-placed Premier League finish last season.

The Premier League and Serie A title-winner has seen his side cement themselves in fourth place in the Premier League table this term, and they qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners.

Conte will return to San Siro to face AC Milan in the last 16 of Europe's premier tournament next year, but his side sit eight points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal having played a game more.

Tottenham ran out 4-0 winners over Motherwell in their first winter friendly on Friday, with Matt Doherty scoring twice alongside strikes from Dejan Kulusevski and Bryan Gil at Hotspur Way.

The Lilywhites now prepare to take on Nice on December 21 before resuming their Premier League campaign away to Brentford in a Boxing Day lunchtime kickoff.
