Late Miralem Pjanic strike gives Roma victory

Roma score late to beat Parma 2-1 and maintain their perfect start to their Serie A campaign.

Roma maintained a perfect start to their Serie A season after Miralem Pjanic struck late to give the Giallorossi a 2-1 victory at Parma.

The visitors had taken the lead midway through the first half when Francesco Totti's defence-splitting pass found Adem Ljajic in space and the Serbian midfielder duly placed the ball beyond the reach of Antonio Mirante.

Totti almost worked a second goal soon after when his cross reached Radja Nainggolan, but Parma were able to block the subsequent shot at goal.

Roma were pegged back early in the second half when Juventus loanee Paulo De Ceglie headed the Emilians level and it appeared that Rudi Garcia would see his side lose their 100% record.

However, Pjanic stepped up in the dying minutes to score for the Romans, to the delight of the travelling Giallorossi support inside the Ennio Tardini stadium.

The result sees Roma stay level on points with Juventus, but the Turin side move ahead on goal difference after they beat Cesena 3-0.
