Getafe are allegedly offered the opportunity to sign Gareth Bale, who will depart Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.

President Angel Torres Sanchez has claimed that Getafe have been offered the opportunity to sign Gareth Bale.

After a largely-successful nine-year stint at Real Madrid, Bale will depart the Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer at the end of his contract in June.

At one stage, there appeared to be a realistic chance that the 32-year-old could decide to hang up his boots, arguably ending a trophy-laden career earlier than expected.

However, Wales' qualification for the 2022 World Cup ended that talk, Ukraine's Andriy Yarmolenko deflecting Bale's free kick into his own net to hand the Dragons a 1-0 victory.

The forward is now searching for a new club, and it appears that the player has been offered to at least one Spanish club in the form of Getafe.

Speaking to Onda Cero journalist Alberto Fernandez, Sanchez said: "We spoke to Gareth Bale's agent just 45 minutes ago, they offered him to us. We will consider and study this possibility."

Getafe have just endured a disappointing year in La Liga, the Azulones only finishing in 15th position and one point above the relegation zone.

The alleged conversation may have occurred due to Getafe being less than 30 minutes drive from Madrid, something which may appeal to Bale who is settled in the city.

Should Bale opt to return to the United Kingdom, it appears likely that Cardiff City will be at the front of the queue to sign a player who was born in the city.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that the Championship club were assessing the pros and cons of putting together a proposal for what would undoubtedly be the most lucrative addition in their history.

However, as well as Bale's wages having the potential to put a strain on the EFL's financial fair play regulations, the attacker would not be used in every game.

A move to the MLS is also likely to be considered, particularly with any contract being able to end at the end of 2022 rather than next summer.

Although Bale may potentially be handed opportunities to return to the Premier League, former club Tottenham Hotspur are said to have ruled themselves out of the race for his signature.
