Chris Ramsey hopes to select Charlie Austin against Charlton Athletic

Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey will pick Charlie Austin to face Charlton Athletic next week if he recovers from a groin strain.

Charlie Austin could be included in the Queens Park Rangers staring lineup for the opening game of the season next week, according to head coach Chris Ramsey.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move back to the Premier League in this window, with Newcastle United and West Ham United reportedly keen.

Austin has been suffering with a slight groin strain, but Ramsey said that he and Jamie Mackie will be fit.

He told the club's official website: "I think Charlie will be fit for next weekend. He's trained the last two days and is getting back to fitness.

"Jamie should be fine as well, and it will be a big boost for us if they're both fit to play a part. Those two being available will give us a big boost, because they can score and create goals."

QPR visit Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
