Stuart Pearce: 'Nottingham Forest must emulate Derby County'

Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce believes that his side should "emulate" Derby County's patient, long-term approach to building a strong team.

Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce has claimed that his side must strive to "emulate" Derby County's patient approach in building their squad, following the Reds' last-gasp 2-1 win at the iPro Stadium on Saturday.

Henri Lansbury headed into his own net on the quarter-hour mark to give the high-flying Rams the lead, but a second-half Britt Assombalonga strike and a goal by Ben Osborn at the death gave the City Ground side the win.

Pearce told Sky Sports News after the game: "We had a gameplan and stuck to that, credit to the players. The dressing room is buoyant at the moment as you can imagine.

"I'm very pleased for the owner who stayed loyal and patient. We have to emulate the likes of Derby who have been patient over a number of years and built a good side. Judge me at the end of the season.

"Is this a better football club than we were last season? I say yes, but we have to keep working, hopefully this will spark us on."

Forest climb to 11th in the Championship table following the win.
