Declan Rudd desperate to keep place

Declan Rudd reveals his determination to keep his place in the Norwich City side after climbing above John Ruddy in the pecking order.

Declan Rudd has revealed his determination to hold down a place in the Norwich City side after recently breaking into the team.

Norwich boss Alex Neil has given Rudd the chance to impress ahead of John Ruddy, and after making a number of fine saves in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Everton, the goalkeeper is desperate to maintain his good form.

"Being from Norwich, and having a season-ticket from when I was eight years old, it's massive for me. You can't let those emotions get in the way when you're on the pitch though; you need to do your job," the 24-year-old told the club's website.

"I need to work hard to stay in the team because John Ruddy is right behind me and hungry to get that place back. It's lovely to be in the team but it's up to me now.

"John has been a great professional. He still helps me out and told me I deserved my chance. I've worked hard and now the manager has put faith in me."

Rudd had made just 10 league appearances for the Canaries before this season.
