RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner is reportedly on the brink of completing his loan move to Tottenham Hotspur.

RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner is reportedly expected to complete his loan switch to Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days.

Werner's future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, amid rumours over a possible move to Manchester United.

However, Tottenham Hotspur have since moved to the front of the queue, having opened talks with Leipzig over a six-month loan deal.

On Saturday, the German club confirmed Werner was "in talks with another club", ruling him out of a 1-0 friendly win over St Gallen.

According to Sky Sports News, the former Chelsea forward is on the brink of completing his return to the Premier League.

Werner travelled back to Germany with the Leipzig squad following the club's winter training camp in Spain ahead of the return of the Bundesliga.

He is expected to fly to London in the coming days to undergo a medical and finalise his loan switch to Tottenham.

The report states that the player's wages will cost Spurs £4.3m, while the loan deal includes a £15.5m option to buy Werner at the end of the season.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has seemingly played a key role in convincing Werner to complete the move after holding talks with the forward.

The German was said to be "thrilled" by his discussions with the Spurs head coach, who is determined to strengthen his forward options, with Son Heung-min away with South Korea for the upcoming Asian Cup.

There are also concerns that Tottenham could be without Alejo Veliz for a significant period after the Argentine striker suffered a knee injury in a 3-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth at the end of December.

From Werner's perspective, the move will give him a chance to gain regular playing time as he looks to secure his place in Julian Nagelsmann's Germany squad for Euro 2024.

Werner, who is currently in his second spell with Leipzig, has had to settle for just four starts in his 14 competitive appearances this season.

During his previous spell in England, Werner scored 23 goals and contributed 21 assists in 89 appearances for Chelsea.

Although he struggled for consistency at Stamford Bridge, he left the Blues with three winners' medals after winning the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
