Reporter Kaveh Solhekol says that Tottenham Hotspur could sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier on a free transfer.

Tottenham Hotspur could sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier on a free transfer ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, according to reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

Meunier's current deal with PSG will expire at the end of June, and it seems unlikely that he will be penning an extension with the French champions in the coming weeks.

Spurs have recently been linked with a move for the Belgium international, and Solhekol has claimed that "the prospect of playing in London for Jose Mourinho" means that the deal is a real possibility.

"Spurs need another right-back and Thomas Meunier would be a great addition to their squad. He is out of contract at PSG at the end of June and he will be one of the most sought-after players during the summer," Solhekol told Sky Sports News.

"The only problem for Spurs is lots of other clubs want the Belgium international. Having said that, Meunier is attracted by the prospect of playing in London for Jose Mourinho and if he's offered the right terms, we could well see him playing for Spurs next season.

"Signing Meunier would make sense for Spurs. There's no transfer fee, he's 28 and he plays for regularly for Belgium - the number one ranked national team in the world."

The 28-year-old, who has also been linked with Manchester United, has scored once and provided two assists in 27 appearances for the French champions this season.
