Manchester United 'have no plans to sign Philippe Coutinho'

Manchester United do not intend to make a move for Philippe Coutinho during the summer transfer window, according to a report.

Manchester United reportedly have no plans in place to sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.

The former Liverpool man, who is currently plying his trade on loan at Bayern Munich, has been persistently linked with a number of Premier League sides after a turbulent time with Barcelona.

Coutinho has fared slightly better in Germany - amassing a return of nine goals and eight assists in all competitions - but the Bavarian giants have decided against exercising their option of a permanent deal.

As a result, a number of Premier League sides have been linked with a swoop for the 27-year-old, but according to ESPN, United have no interest in bringing Coutinho to Old Trafford.

Chelsea, Newcastle United and Arsenal have all been credited with an interest in the winger recently, although a recent report claimed that the Gunners are not prepared to meet Barca's financial demands for a loan deal.

Given the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, it seems unlikely that the Catalan giants will recoup anything close to the £142m they forked out for Coutinho in 2018.
