How Manchester United could line up against Chelsea

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up in Sunday's Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Manchester United will be bidding to take a big step towards securing a top-four spot in the Premier League table when they travel to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils are currently second in the division, 10 points behind leaders Manchester City but six points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea ahead of this weekend's clash in the English capital.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will enter the match off the back of a goalless draw with Real Sociedad on Thursday, which saw them book their spot in the last-16 stage of the Europa League courtesy of a 4-0 aggregate win.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Man United could line up against Chelsea.

United will definitely be without the services of Paul Pogba and Juan Mata this weekend through injury, while Phil Jones is still on the treatment table with a long-term knee issue.

Scott McTominay, Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek have all recently been on the sidelines, but Solskjaer said after Thursday's clash with Real Sociedad that he was hopeful of having the trio available.

Van de Beek is expected to be in the squad, but McTominay has since been officially ruled out, while Cavani faces a battle to be involved, with the Uruguay international still struggling with a muscular problem.

Cavani will start at the tip of the attack if he can prove his fitness, while Nemanja Matic should feature in central midfield alongside Fred due to McTominay's absence.

There will certainly be changes from the side that started in the Europa League, with David de Gea, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford set to return to the XI, but Mason Greenwood could keep his spot on the right as Daniel James is a doubt with a muscular problem that he picked up on Thursday.

Anthony Martial's recent struggles mean that the France international should drop down to the bench, while Shola Shoretire and Amad Diallo could again be involved in the squad, having both taken advantage of the club's recent injury problems to earn first-team minutes.
