How Manchester United could line up against Wolverhampton Wanderers

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for Wednesday night's FA Cup third-round replay against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester United welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening for their FA Cup third-round replay.

The two sides played out a goalless stalemate in the initial tie at Molineux earlier this month, with United failing to have a single shot on target during that match - the first time that has happened in a domestic outing since January 2015.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side roared back to goalscoring form with a 4-0 drubbing of Norwich City on Saturday, though, and take on a Wolves side without a win in their last four games.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the Red Devils could line up for the contest.

Changes are expected from Solskjaer with a trip to bitter rivals Liverpool looming at the weekend, although the quality of the opposition demands that some first-team players keep their places.

Mason Greenwood fired another reminder of his potential with a goal off the bench against Norwich and should have a chance to start in this one, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both prime candidates to be rested.

Harry Maguire may also be given the night off considering he played the full 90 minutes against Norwich, defying widespread reports that he was set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a hip problem.

Solskjaer should have Jesse Lingard back available after illness, while Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah must now build up their fitness after lengthy injury absences and could be included in the squad to aid that.

Tahith Chong, Phil Jones and Sergio Romero are among the fringe players who could benefit from any rotation, but club captain Ashley Young may sit out amid speculation that he is close to leaving this month.

Juan Mata will hope that his pair of assists against Norwich are enough to earn him another start, although if he is left out of the XI then it could be a sign that Solskjaer wants to hold him back for Liverpool.
