Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is reportedly keen to play two more seasons in Europe before making the switch to the MLS.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi reportedly intends to spend two more seasons in Europe before eventually moving to the MLS.

With less than three months remaining on his contract, the Argentina international could end his long-term association with the Catalan giants this summer.

While there is more chance of Messi staying at Camp Nou now that Joan Laporta has been re-elected as president, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are known to be monitoring the situation.

However, according to Cadena Ser, the 33-year-old will only ply his trade in one of European football's top leagues until 2023 at the latest.

Speaking to Carrusel Deportivo, Jose Antonio Ponseti suggested that Messi would eventually move to Miami, implying that he could link up with recently-formed Inter Miami.

Previous reports have hinted that Man City held an edge in future negotiations through being able to offer Messi a transfer to New York City FC.
