Alan Pardew: 'Crystal Palace are under pressure'

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew admits that his side are under pressure, but does not believe that they deserve to lose a fifth straight game against Manchester City.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has claimed that his side did not deserve to lose in their Premier League clash with Manchester City at Selhurst Park this afternoon.

The Eagles slumped to a fifth straight defeat at the hands of Pep Guardiola's side courtesy of a Yaya Toure brace either side of a Connor Wickham equaliser.

The defeat leaves Palace just a point clear of the relegation zone, and Pardew acknowledged that his side are feeling the pressure.

"It was a tough result for us. For long periods we were very strong, very defensively sound. They subdued us a bit with world class defenders but we still caused them problems," he told reporters.

"The first goal is three errors and the second goal, we didn't get a message on to the pitch that we wanted. Little mistakes are costing us massively at the moment. Our midfield had the edge today. Yaya Toure has got two goals but [Yohan] Cabaye and [Jason] Puncheon were top class.

"We deserved something from the game but you can't keep saying that. We need to get points. We have got games coming up that we have more chance of winning but we are under pressure. We needed a result today to give us a lift."

Palace have now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 17 Premier League games - the longest current run in the division.
