Gael Clichy expects "special" Manchester derby

Manchester City defender Gael Clichy says that he is expecting a "special" derby against Manchester United this weekend.

Gael Clichy has said that he is expecting a "special" Manchester derby when the Premier League champions host Manchester United this weekend.

The derby, which will be the first since Louis van Gaal look charge at Old Trafford, sees Manchester City heading into the match off the back of their second defeat of the season, while United are without a win away from home.

The City defender told the club's website: "There are a lot of derbies in England. I was used to Arsenal against Tottenham and people were telling me [City vs United] was a big one. In my experience I can tell you that the one in Manchester is bigger.

"This year is going to be special because they have a new manager and it's a team that needs to get points to prove to people that they are still there. Playing against great players is what we want as a football player. It's going to be a really good game and hopefully we can get the three points."

The sides meet at the Etihad on Sunday.
