Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane says that Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero was "overweight" on his return from injury.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has accused Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero of being "overweight" when he returned from injury against Arsenal last month.

The Argentine international missed the start of the 2020-21 campaign as he recovered from knee surgery before featuring in three straight games with Arsenal, Porto and West Ham United.

Aguero picked up a hamstring issue during the draw with West Ham on October 24, though, and has now missed his team's last four matches in all competitions.

Keane has claimed that the Argentine international "looked really, really heavy" upon his return and has questioned whether the striker looked after himself while recovering from injury.

"My issue with Aguero when he came back was he looked overweight," Keane told Sky Sports News. "God knows what size shorts he was wearing. He did look really heavy. Sometimes you can be out injured and hit the ground running.

"This idea that players need two or three months to get up to speed... I was worried when he came back - he looked really, really heavy."

Aguero's current deal at the Etihad Stadium is due to expire next summer.
