Liverpool reportedly view Leicester City's James Maddison as the perfect player to boost their attacking options despite monitoring Real Madrid's Isco.

Liverpool have reportedly identified Leicester City's James Maddison as the perfect player to boost their attacking options despite the potential availability of Real Madrid playmaker Isco.

The Reds were relatively quiet during the summer transfer window, but it is thought that the Premier League leaders will soon dip into the market - potentially in January - for a new attacking midfielder.

According to reports in Spain, head coach Jurgen Klopp was interested in a move for Isco, but the German now believes that Maddison is the ideal player to boost his team's output from a midfield area.

The 22-year-old was in impressive form for Leicester last season, while he has contributed two goals and two assists in seven outings for the Foxes in the early stages of the 2019-20 campaign.

Manchester United have also been strongly linked with a a swoop for the Englishman, who has a contract at the King Power Stadium until the summer of 2023.

Liverpool will attempt to make it seven straight Premier League wins at the start of the new season when they travel to Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.
