Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Liverpool could line up for Wednesday's Champions League group-stage clash with Napoli.

Liverpool new boy Arthur could be handed his debut for the club when they kick off their Champions League campaign away to Napoli in Wednesday's Group A contest.

The Juventus loanee received international clearance in time to make the bench against Everton, where Jurgen Klopp was dealt yet another midfield injury blow.

Already working without Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool lost Fabio Carvalho to a dead leg at half time, and the 20-year-old has been ruled out alongside Curtis Jones (shin)

On a brighter note, Thiago Alcantara is back in full training and has made the squad, but Klopp is unlikely to throw the injury-hit Spaniard in from the first whistle.

Arthur will therefore push to start alongside Fabinho and Harvey Elliott in the heart of the midfield, but he may need to fend off competition from James Milner if Klopp is tempted to go with experience.

Elsewhere, Joel Matip's return to fitness could see Joe Gomez's run in the team come to an end, with the ex-Cameroon international hoping to renew his effective partnership with Virgil van Dijk, but Ibrahima Konate will sit out until after the international break.

Kostas Tsimikas is also set to make way for Andy Robertson, while Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz occupy the wide areas as ever, but Klopp now has three attackers vying for the central spot.

Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino both came off the bench at Goodison Park, but Darwin Nunez put in a promising display upon his return from suspension and will expect to start this one.

Liverpool possible starting lineup: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Milner; Salah, Nunez, Diaz
