Will Buckley completes Leeds United loan switch

Will Buckley swaps Sunderland for Leeds United on a short-term loan deal.

Leeds United have signed Will Buckley on a three-month loan deal from Premier League side Sunderland.

The 25-year-old had been closing in on a move to Elland Road, having spent the last week training with the Yorkshire outfit.

Buckley has now put pen to paper on a short-term contract that will keep him in place until January 2, and is hopeful that he can 'prove a point' after dropping down a tier in search of regular football.

"I wanted to go out and get some games at a big club and Leeds was the perfect opportunity for me to do that," he told United's official website. "There was interest in the summer but after the transfer window closed Leeds were still there and they showed they were keen to get me.

"I was keen to come here and eventually it got sorted out, which I was pleased about. Even though the loan deal didn't start until this week, I was glad to get with the lads and get training.

"It feels like a fresh start for me. I've got a point to prove that I can get back to the Premier League. To play games and to perform well is my aim now."

Buckley, who has previously spent time at Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford in the Championship, becomes Uwe Rosler's ninth addition since taking over at the start of the summer.
