Football League disqualifies Leeds United president Massimo Cellino

The Football League confirms that it has disqualified Leeds United president Massimo Cellino under the conditions of its owners' and directors' test.

The Football League has confirmed that it has disqualified Leeds United president Massimo Cellino under its owners' and directors' test.

The news comes hours after the club sacked manager Uwe Rosler following their third defeat on the spin in the Championship.

The board of the Football League came to the judgement after discussing Cellino's court case in Sardinia, when he was found guilty of breaching an offence under Italian tax legislation regarding of a non-payment of VAT on the importation of a Land Rover vehicle.

The Football League said on their official website: "Having considered detailed legal advice and the court's reasoned judgment, as supplied by Mr Cellino, the board determined that the decision of the Italian Court constitutes a disqualifying condition under the owners' and directors' test."

Cellino has until October 28 to appeal the ban by the organisation, which would be heard by an independent panel.
