Alexander Meier brace earns point for Eintracht Frankfurt in eight-goal thriller

Alexander Meier scores twice late on as Eintracht Frankfurt come from behind to earn a 4-4 draw in a dramatic Bundesliga clash with Hertha Berlin.

Alexander Meier scored twice late on as Eintracht Frankfurt fought back to earn a 4-4 draw with Hertha Berlin at Commerzbank Arena this evening.

Hertha started the scoring on a dramatic night in the 21st minute when Ronny delivered a dangerous free kick to allow John Brooks to volley home from close range.

Anis Ben-Hatira was the next player to benefit from Ronny's quality with set pieces as he climbed highest to head in off the post from the corner.

Frankfurt appeared to have no response, and the hosts were 3-0 down in the 37th minute when Julian Schieber slid in at the back post to convert a Ben-Hatira cross.

However, Stefan Aigner would score what proved to be a crucial goal before the break by meeting Haris Seferovic's cross to reduce the deficit.

Frankfurt were on top in the early stages of the second half, and they piled the pressure on the visitors by pulling another goal back when Seferovic headed in from Makoto Hasebe's clever ball.

A tiring Frankfurt side struggled to produce more chances as they went in search for the equaliser in the closing moments.

It looked like their challenge would end in disappointment when Hertha restored their two-goal advantage through Peter Niemeyer, who found the space to turn in Ben-Hatira's free kick.

However, the visitors were left stunned heading into stoppage time as Meier set up a dramatic finish by taking advantage of sloppy marking to head in after good work from Bamba Anderson.

There was one final twist in stoppage time when Meier found the space to fire home the equaliser after Aigner's cross had caused more problems for the nervy Hertha defence.
