Scottish League One Roundup: Dunfermline miss chance to go top, Forfar beaten

Dunfermline throw away three points at Peterhead, while Forfar remain top of Scottish League One despite going down to Greenock Morton.

Dunfermline Athletic failed to take advantage of league leaders Forfar Athletic slipping up at Greenock Morton after conceding a late equaliser away at Peterhead.

The Pars were ahead before 20 minutes had elapsed when Fayssal El-Bakhtaoui bundled the ball over the line from close range, and it stayed that way until normal time was just about to run out. Jamie Stevenson met a Bryan Gilfillan cross in the dying embers to equalise and deny Jim Jefferies and his men the chance to leapfrog Forfar.

The league leaders slipped up away to Greenock Morton, who were good value for their win. Forfar were not at the races and showed a lack of discipline as well as goals - Jim Paterson was shown a late red for fighting.

Those results mean Forfar retain the top spot by a single point, with Dunfermline and Morton joint second on 21 points. Elsewhere, there were wins for Stranraer and Airdrieonians who claw themselves out of the drop zone.

Results in full: Airdrieonians 2-0 Stenhousemuir, Morton 2-0 Forfar, Peterhead 1-1 Dunfermline, Stranraer 3-1 Ayr
