Five forwards Everton could sign this summer

Sports Mole identifies five forwards that Everton could look to sign ahead of the 2023-24 season.

After enduring a disappointing season, Everton managed to finish the campaign on a positive, securing Premier League safety with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.

The Toffees will now turn their attention to their summer transfer business, and they will know that if they are to avoid being drawn into another relegation scrap next term, then they will need to strengthen in the final third.

The Merseyside club finished the 2022-23 campaign as the second-lowest scorers in the top flight with 33 goals in 38 games.

Their three frontline forwards - Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Neal Maupay and Ellis Simms - mustered just four goals between them.

Here, Sports Mole identifies five players that could solve Everton's goalscoring woes for the 2023-24 season.

Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City)

Gyokeres narrowly missed out on securing promotion to the Premier League with Coventry in Saturday's Championship playoff final.

The Sky Blues were beaten on penalties by Luton Town, ensuring that Mark Robins's side will remain in the second tier next season.

Although the campaign ended in disappointment, Gyokeres finished the 2022-23 season as the second-highest scorer in the Championship.

The Sweden international racked up 21 goals in 46 league matches, while he also showcased his creative attributes by providing 10 assists.

Should Everton decide to move for the 24-year-old, they will face competition for his signature, with a whole host of Premier League clubs monitoring his situation.

El Bilal Toure (Almeria)

El Bilal Toure could be on the move once again after joining Spanish side Almeria last summer in a transfer from Stade de Reims.

A recent report claimed that Everton are interested in the Mali international, and they are set to step up their pursuit.

During his short time in Spain, the Almeria striker has scored six goals and two assists in 20 La Liga appearances.

With Toure under contract with the Spanish club until June 2028, Almeria are supposedly looking for offers in the region of £25m.

Everton will want to make sure that the forward has overcome a recent thigh issue that required surgery and kept him sidelined for over two months.

Yuri Alberto (Corinthians)

Everton's search for a new striker could take them to South America amid reports that they are considering a move for Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto.

According to Goal Brazil, Merseyside club have made contact with Alberto's representatives, but they are yet to make a formal approach.

A potential deal could be complicated by the fact that another club is involved, as Corinthians only hold 50% of Alberto's economic rights, while the other half belongs to his former side Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Alberto also has a long-term contract with Corinthians after signing a permanent deal in January, which runs until December 2027.

The striker has scored 16 goals and provided eight assists in 53 competitive appearances for the Brazilian club.

Beto (Udinese)

Beto was previously linked with a move to Goodison Park in the January transfer window, but Everton failed in their attempts to sign the Udinese striker.

The Toffees reportedly had a bid rejected on deadline day to sum up an unsuccessful transfer window where they failed to sign a single player.

Everton are hoping to experience better fortunes this summer, and the Portuguese striker still appears to be on their radar.

The 25-year-old is set to finish the 2022-23 campaign as Udinese's top scorer after scoring 10 goals in 32 Serie A matches.

With three years left to run on Beto's contract, Udinese will reportedly demand a fee in the region of £30m for one of their prized assets.

Che Adams (Southampton)

Che Adams is expected to be among several players that leave Southampton this summer following their relegation from the Premier League.

The Scotland international may have been disappointed with his overall form in the 2022-23 Premier League season, scoring five goals in 28 matches.

In four years with the Saints, Adams has registered 31 goals in 145 appearances across all competitions, and he could be available for a reasonable price this summer.

The former Birmingham City striker is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract, and the Saints are expected to entertain offers rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in 2024.
