Derby County boss Paul Clement frustrated with Birmingham City draw

Derby County boss Paul Clement believes that his side did enough to secure all three points in their 1-1 draw against Birmingham City in their Championship clash.

Derby County boss Paul Clement has conceded that he was frustrated that his side could not earn their first win of the Championship season against Birmingham City.

The Rams made it four successive draws to open their league campaign as they were forced to come from behind to earn a point at St Andrew's when Johnny Russell cancelled out Stephen Gleeson's first-half opener.

However, Derby came close to a winner on two occasions in the second half when Darren Bent's glancing header hit the bar and Andreas Weimann hit the post, but the visitors were forced to share the spoils.

Clement told the club's official website: "We edged it on chances with 20 shots to their 19 and over the 90 minutes it was a very open game. There were two really contrasting styles on show and in terms of quality chances, though, ours were better.

"We hit the post in either half, clipped the crossbar and I think they will leave the game much happier with the result than us. We were tired at the end and showed later in the game that we had played Saturday, Tuesday and Friday; that takes a lot out of the players.

"We find ourselves not coming away with the right result again and everyone is disappointed because we want to be winning football matches. That's four draws in the league now and we will take the positives out of that. We are creating chances, we're defending well and if we keep doing that we are not going to be too far away from getting our first three points of the season."

Derby are 12th in the Championship after four matches this season.
