Lyon reportedly reject a £3m offer from Chelsea to cut Emerson Palmieri's loan short amid their left wing-back conundrum.

Chelsea have reportedly seen their attempts to recall Emerson Palmieri to the club with a £3m offer rebuffed by Lyon.

The former Roma man failed to make his mark at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel and was sent out on loan to the Ligue 1 side for the season back in the summer.

However, the Blues have been searching for reinforcements at left wing-back this month following Ben Chilwell's season-ending ACL injury, leading to talk of Emerson's possible return.

The 27-year-old has established himself as a key fixture of Peter Bosz's Lyon team, though, and The Athletic reports that Les Gones turned down a bid of £3m to cut his loan short.

The report adds that Chelsea may attempt to up their offer before Monday's deadline, but the emergence of Malang Sarr coupled with Kenedy's return could see the European champions save their funds for the summer instead.

Emerson has started 15 Ligue 1 games for Lyon since his arrival, recording one goal and one assist in the process, although he missed the 1-0 win over Saint-Etienne last weekend following a positive COVID-19 test.
