Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs 'delighted' to sign Chelsea striker Islam Feruz

Hibernian worked for over two weeks to sign Islam Feruz on loan from Chelsea, according to manager Alan Stubbs.

Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs has voiced his delight at signing Islam Feruz, and said that the club worked on a deal to bring in the Chelsea forward for two weeks.

Former Celtic youth player Feruz has joined the Scottish Championship side on a season-long loan, and Stubbs has revealed the effort put in to sort the deal.

"I knew about Islam but sometimes when it's a big club – a really big club involved – you think there's no chance of getting players. But, unless you ask, you are not going to get," he told reporters.

"We spoke to the club and his advisors and there seemed a willingness from all parties. It was just a case of making sure it was right for everybody and, at the end of the day, we are delighted. It could be a really exciting move for him and this club."

Feruz, 19, is yet to make a first-team appearance for Chelsea, but has spent time out on loan at Blackpool and OFI Crete.
