Graeme Le Saux: 'January transfer window shouldn't exist'

Former Chelsea and England defender Graeme Le Saux claims that it would be better for the game if the January transfer window did not exist.

Former Chelsea and England defender Graeme Le Saux has criticised the January transfer window, claiming that it would be better for the game if it did not exist.

With the window due to shut on Monday, teams across the Premier League and Football League are busy making last-minute deals to boost their sides for the remainder of the season.

However, Le Saux is against the current system, telling The Independent: "I think we get a bit carried away with the transfer window in January which I'm not particularly a fan of as I think it increases fees and the players and it can potentially lead to panic buying.

"It's something that I would rather didn't exist because it can be very disruptive for clubs and players. I'd be quite happy if nobody got bought or sold in the transfer window."

Chelsea are expected to sign Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina before the window shuts.
