Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson will reportedly face no retrospective punishment from the Football Association after appearing to grab the throat of Everton's Nathan Patterson after his team's 2-0 defeat on Sunday.

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson will reportedly face no retrospective punishment from the Football Association after appearing to grab the throat of Everton's Nathan Patterson after his team's 2-0 defeat on Sunday.

Jackson was dropped to the substitutes' bench for the Premier League match at Goodison Park and came on for the final 23 minutes plus stoppage time, but he was unable to help the Blues avoid defeat on Merseyside.

Second-half strikes from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin secured maximum points for Everton and condemned Mauricio Pochettino's men to their seventh league defeat of the season.

After the full-time whistle had blown, Jackson was involved in a heated exchange with multiple Everton players, and he has been pictured with his left hand around the neck of Patterson before being dragged off the pitch by Pochettino.

According to several news outlets including The Athletic, the FA haa confirmed that the incident involving Jackson was reviewed by match officials at the time, but the striker will face no further disciplinary action.

Jackson is therefore available to represent Chelsea in their next Premier League fixture against Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The decision comes after both Casemiro and Rodri of Manchester United and Manchester City respectively were sent off in Premier League games earlier this year for similar offences.

In March, Casemiro was shown a straight red card in the Red Devils' 2-1 win over Crystal Palace for raising his hands to the neck of Will Hughes, and the Brazilian was handed a three-match ban for violent conduct.

Rodri, meanwhile, was also forced to serve a three-game suspension after being sent off just 27 seconds into the second half of Man City's 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in September for grabbing the neck of Morgan Gibbs-White with both hands.

Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal for a reported £32m in the summer and he has since endured a mixed start to life in West London, scoring six goals in 15 Premier League games, but receiving a league-high seven yellow cards; only West Ham United's Edson Alvarez has picked up as many bookings.

The majority of Jackson's bookings have been for dissent and Pochettino has previously warned the Senegal international that he can ill-afford to continue picking up "cheap yellow cards" is he wishes to avoid putting Chelsea in a "very difficult situation".

Chelsea's discipline has been a problem for Pochettino all season, as only Sheffield United (49) have picked up as many yellow cards as the Blues in 2023-24, while only Liverpool (four) have received more red cards that the West Londoners (three).
