Chelsea Women's striker Sam Kerr has reportedly pleaded not guilty to a charge of racially aggravated harassment following an incident in January.

The Australia international - regarded as one of the best players in the world - was charged with using insulting, threatening or abusive words that caused alarm or distress towards a police officer in Twickenham.

According to Sky News, the member of the force was responding to a complaint about a taxi fare on January 30, and Kerr appeared at Kingston upon Thames Crown Court via videolink on Monday.

The 30-year-old denied the charge and is now set to stand trial for a period of four days in February 2025, but Chelsea are yet to comment on the alleged incident.

Kerr boasts 99 goals in 128 appearances for Chelsea's Women's team, winning four successive Women's Super League titles and finishing in the top three of the Ballon d'Or Feminin in each of the last three years.

The Blues forward is currently on the mend following an ACL injury, which she sustained during January's warm-weather training camp in Morocco with Emma Hayes's side .
