Toumani Diagouraga hoping to earn new Brentford deal

Midfielder Toumani Diagouraga reveals that he would like to sign a new contract with Brentford.

Brentford midfielder Toumani Diagouraga has expressed his desire to earn a new contract with the Championship club.

The 27-year-old has spent the last four seasons at Griffin Park, but his current deal is due to expire next summer and as yet, no talks have taken place regarding an extension.

However, Diagouraga has vowed to do all that he can to lengthen his stay with the Bees beyond the end of the campaign.

"It's a little bit of a concern. You think about it now and then especially having kids but, at the end of the day, if I train hard, play well I'm sure the rest will take care of itself," he told the Fulham Chronicle.

"I haven't spoken to anyone about it. Anything can happen in football. I'm sure if I get the chance and put in a good performance then I'm sure I'll be okay.

"All you have to do, whenever you get the nod, even if it's five or 10 minutes or half an hour, you have to give your best in every game and take it from there. I've been here four years. It's good to be here. I enjoy it here so hopefully I can stay here longer."

Diagouraga joined Brentford from Peterborough United in 2010 and he has gone on to make 180 appearances for the West Londoners.
