Half-Time Report: Bournemouth lead 10-man Watford

Yann Kermorgant scores from the penalty spot to give Bournemouth a 1-0 lead over 10-man Watford in the Championship.

A Yann Kermorgant penalty has given Bournemouth a 1-0 lead over 10-man Watford at half time in their Championship clash at Dean Court this evening.

Watford were reduced to 10 men less than a minute into the match when Gabriele Angella charged into Callum Wilson, earning him a straight red for a last-man foul.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Troy Deeney tried to create an opportunity for the visitors when he played the ball forward for Ikechi Anya, but the finish was wide of the post.

Bournemouth's first real chance of the match came almost 15 minutes in when Harry Arter set up Matt Ritchie for a drilled effort from the edge of the box, but he could not get his shot on target.

The home side started to dominate the possession, and came within inches of taking the lead when Kermorgant volleyed a powerful effort towards goal, but the crossbar spared Watford.

The Championship leaders did get the breakthrough before the break though as Wilson was fouled again, this time by Craig Cathcart, to give the hosts a spot kick, which was tucked away by Kermorgant.

Bournemouth could have added a second just before the break when Heurelho Gomes had to be on hand to deny Arter from a corner after spilling a save to concede the set piece moments earlier.
