Neil McDonald: Nile Ranger 'causing havoc' at Blackpool

Neil McDonald tells Nile Ranger that he has "no future" at Blackpool, and questions chairman Karl Oyston's decision not to sack the player.

Blackpool manager Neil McDonald has reiterated that Nile Ranger has "no future" at Bloomfield Road.

The former Newcastle United striker returned to training last week, some 10 months after being told by his boss to stay away.

McDonald has vowed not to integrate Ranger back into his plans, and claims that the 24-year-old is simply 'causing havoc' at the club.

Asked by The Gazette why the controversial figure was still on the scene, McDonald said: "You'd have to ask the chairman about that. I've made my feelings known. The player has no future at this club. You'll have to ask the hierarchy why he is still here.

"Nobody needs this - me or the lad. He can come back and put things on social media showing him training and grafting, but he's not really. He's come back to cause a bit of havoc and some headlines. He didn't even turn up on Friday, so that's what we are having to deal with.

"I've been told we have to make facilities available to him and that's what we'll do. But he certainly won't come into the fold here and he won't come into the team, that's for sure."

Ranger initially joined Blackpool on a one-year deal in August 2014, before the Tangerines took up the option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.
