Italian champions Juventus are reportedly close to securing a deal to sign Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, having agreed personal terms with the 33-year-old.

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is reportedly close to sealing a move to Juventus after agreeing personal terms with the Italian champions.

The 33-year-old has been told that he is not part of new Barca manager Ronald Koeman's plans at Camp Nou as the Dutchman looks to rebuild his squad following his arrival.

Suarez still has a year to run on his current contract - with the option of an additional year if he were to play 60% of games during the 2020-21 campaign - but Juventus are hopeful of landing the Uruguayan on a free transfer.

BBC Sport reports that Suarez is currently negotiating his release from the Spanish giants and would accept the option of being paid off with one season's wages.

Juventus may need to pay a nominal fee for the former Liverpool striker, but they are confident of reaching an agreement with Barcelona.

The move will see Suarez link up with five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, having spent the last six years in a prolific striking partnership with six-time winner Lionel Messi.

Suarez has scored 198 goals in 283 appearances for Barcelona, and his future is not thought to be linked to that of wantaway Barca captain Messi, who has also been tipped to join Juventus.
