Barcelona transfer news: Garcia move in doubt, Coutinho exit talks delayed, Tagliafico competition

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Barcelona on Tuesday, August 11.

Barcelona have a huge Champions League quarter-final with Bayern Munich to come later this week, knowing that only success in that competition can salvage a disappointing campaign.

The Catalan giants are likely to wait until after the season concludes before making any new signings, but that is not to say talks are not already ongoing behind the scenes.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news from Camp Nou.

Tuesday morning's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup:

Barcelona 'unwilling to meet Eric Garcia asking price'

Pep Guardiola revealed last week that young centre-back Eric Garcia has rejected the offer of a new contract at Manchester City.

Barca are the strong favourites to sign the Spaniard, who spent time in their academy setup before heading to City in 2017.

However, ESPN claims that the La Liga club are not prepared to meet the Citizens' £27m asking price for Garcia.

Quique Setien's side may now look to haggle with City for a better offer or instead look elsewhere for a new centre-back.

Chelsea, Barcelona to battle for Nicolas Tagliafico?

Ajax's Nicolas Tagliafico is another defender that is reportedly on Barcelona's radar this summer as they look to strengthen at the back.

The 27-year-old has two years left to run on his contract and has allegedly been told that he can leave Ajax if the right offer is made.

Sky Sports News reports that Barca will face competition from Chelsea for the Argentina international's signature, however, with the Blues also in the market for full-back cover.

Tagliafico has spent three seasons with Ajax, making 99 appearances for the Dutch giants in all competitions.

Arsenal 'made to wait until after Champions League for Philippe Coutinho talks'

Before Barca can bring in any new faces, they may well have to sell one or two players to free up funds.

Philippe Coutinho is widely expected to move on at the end of the season once he returns from a loan spell with Bayern Munich.

Arsenal have been linked with the Brazilian playmaker but, according to Spanish outlet Sport, talks have been put on hold until Bayern's season officially concludes.

That leaves Barca in limbo, with the club said to be keen to offload Coutinho permanently rather than on loan.
