Paco Alcacer 'could not turn down' Barcelona

Barcelona forward Paco Alcacer admits that it was a tough decision to leave Valencia in the summer transfer window.

Paco Alcacer has admitted that while it was difficult to leave Valencia in the summer, the forward could not pass up the opportunity to make the move to Barcelona.

After missing out on Kevin Gameiro and Luciano Vietto, Barcelona signed Alcacer from Valencia in the latter stages of the transfer window, with the Spanish international acting as back-up to Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in the final third.

The 23-year-old is yet to get off the mark in his six appearances for the Catalan giants this season, but he is determined to succeed after making the "very difficult" decision to leave Valencia.

"It's very difficult to say no to Barcelona. I am a player that came from Valencia, I am Valencia [through and through] and it was a very difficult decision, but I think that for any player it is a step forward in their personal career and I think that I have done well," Alcacer told Cadena COPE.

"The day that I signed was a happy day, but of course, I have always said that Valencia gave me everything and thanks to them I am where I am."

Alcacer scored 43 times in 118 appearances for Valencia between 2011 and 2016.
