Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Atletico Madrid

Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash with Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona will be looking to make it five straight wins in all competitions when they travel to Atletico Madrid in Spain's top flight on Sunday night.

Ernesto Valverde's side booked their spot in the last-16 stage of the Champions League with a 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening.

The Spanish champions have also won their last two in the league, and a total of 28 points from 13 matches is enough to top the table at this stage of the campaign.

Real Madrid will move to the summit if they draw or beat Alaves in Saturday's early start, though, while Atletico would join Barca on 28 points should they manage to triumph at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barca's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the match.

Jordi Alba

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: December 1 (vs. Atletico)

Jordi Alba, who has had more than his fair share of injury problems this season, picked up a muscular problem against Slavia Prague at the start of the month and has been on the sidelines since. The left-back has not been officially ruled out of this contest but is seen as a major doubt.

Nelson Semedo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: Unknown

Nelson Semedo is unlikely to feature until 2020 after picking up a calf problem against Celta Vigo earlier this month. As a result, Sergi Roberto is again expected to start on the right side of the back four.

Ousmane Dembele

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: December 1 (vs. Atletico)

Ousmane Dembele was forced off in the first half of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Dortmund after picking up a thigh injury. Barca have not officially ruled the France international out of this match, although it seems unlikely that he will feature having limped off the field.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Sergio Busquets's yellow card in the 2-1 win at Leganes last weekend means that the key midfielder will be suspended for Sunday night's contest.
