Thursday's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup: Philippe Coutinho, Luis Suarez, Ansu Fati

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Barcelona on Thursday, September 24.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Barcelona eye possible reinforcements.

The Spanish champions spent big on Antoine Griezmann last summer but missed out on a big-name striker in January and have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, meaning that selling players rather than buying could be their priority this summer.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news from the Camp Nou.

Thursday morning's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup:

Arsenal reportedly intend to make a fresh approach for Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho over the coming weeks.

While the Gunners were heavily linked with a move for Coutinho earlier in the summer transfer window, there has been minimal talk regarding a switch to the Emirates Stadium during September.

Newly-appointed Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman allegedly wishes to keep the Brazil international in his squad for the 2020-21 campaign.

However, according to Sport, Arsenal are not prepared to give up on the former Liverpool man, aware that the Catalan giants may need to boost their financial position.

The Premier League outfit are said to feel confident that Barcelona officials would allow a transfer to take place should they receive a suitable offer.

The La Liga runners-up have recently raised funds with the sales of Nelson Semedo and Arturo Vidal, while Luis Suarez is also on the brink of signing for Atletico Madrid.

Ansu Fati pens new Barcelona deal with £367m release clause

Teenage attacker Ansu Fati has officially signed a new long-term contract with Barcelona, which includes a release clause of €400m (£367m).

The 17-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough 2019-20 campaign at Camp Nou, scoring eight times and registering one assist in 33 appearances for the Catalan giants.

Earlier this summer, it was reported that Manchester United were interested in the teenager and would be prepared to pay a substantial fee to bring him to Old Trafford.

However, the speculation surrounding the attacker's future has now ended as he has penned a new deal until 2024.

The youngster, who has taken on the number 22 shirt following Arturo Vidal's departure, has also seen his release clause rise to €400m (£367m).

Fati became the youngest first-team goalscorer in Barca's history when he netted against Osasuna in La Liga at the age of 16 years and 304 days last August.

Meanwhile, he also recently made history for Spain, becoming the nation's youngest ever goalscorer by registering against Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League earlier this month.
